Tara and Dr Rob- Pranayama, chanting, Mysore Style Practice, Philosophy & of course… Anatomy

We are delighted to be welcoming back Tara Mitra and Dr. Rob for an in-depth Weekend Workshop. These guys are extremely experienced and knowledgeable and this is a unique opportunity to learn from them in an intimate environment. They are also super friendly and teach in a traditional yet playful manner.

They will be helping us reinvent our asana practice by improving our understanding of anatomy. They will guide us through breathing practices, chanting and yogic philosophy so that we may also learn techniques they have picked up through decades of experience.
Dr. Rob and Tara will review the postures based on four spine positions in the Ashtanga sequence (Flexion, extension, lateral, twist).
They will also help us appreciate
- The regions of the spine, their movement and limitations
- The design of the spine and intervertebral discs
- Postural modifications that provide a safe and more accessible practice
- Common injuries (and how to avoid them)

Pranayama and Chanting – 7am
Mysore style practice- 830am

Dr. Rob has 25 years of experience within the practice of yoga and natural healthcare, including a Masters Degree in Chiropractic. Rob is a long-time Vipassana meditator and student of Sri O.P. Tiwariji, the leading pranayama expert in the lineage of Master Swami Kuvalayananda. He has delivered anatomy courses to Yoga students all around the world and is well known as an expert in the Yoga community.

Tara has been a dedicated yoga practitioner for 17 years. In that time Tara has apprenticed with some the World’s most experienced teachers of asana, pranayama and philosophy. She most recently completed 3 and ½ years assisting R. Saraswathi Jois in her shala in Mysore, India. NOVEMBER GONG BATH // 4th November 2021// 7-8pm// £20

Bathe in the healing vibrations of Sound! Lay there and experience relaxation, emotional release and pain release.
No knowledge or experience is required. Lay down and experience this sound meditation. Wear comfortable clothing and if you'd like, bring a blanket and a cushion to make yourself extra comfortable.
Bring a yoga mat if you have one to lie down on. If not some are available at the venue. We would also recommend a blanket and pillow for extra comfort.

Pregnancy Yoga Course with Lisa Horwell / NEXT DATES TBA

Designed to nurture and support you as your body changes and your baby grows. Giving you time and space to deeply rest and relax, bond with your growing baby as well as learning valuable breath work and movement to assist you on your journey towards and during birth.

Over 6 weeks we will focus on -
-Learning breathing and relaxation techniques to use throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond
- Practice Yoga postures to gently release tension and create stability
- Talk about birth
- Help decrease pregnancy related symptoms
- Improve connection/ bonding with baby
- Help prepare for birth using visualisations/ breathing techniques and help baby get into optimal fetal position
- Meet other Mums-to-be in a safe and peaceful setting

This course is suitable for expectant people from 15 weeks onwards.
Please bring your own gym ball.

Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the 'darker half' of the year.
This is a Women's only ceremony. It is an invitation for radical rest with healing womb yoga. There will be a red tent for safe sharing, followed by a deeply healing gong bath / sacred sound journey.

Beginners Course - NEXT DATE TBA

This course is designed to provide you with;

- Confidence to attend regular yoga classes

- An understanding of what it is you are doing when practicing yoga

- A daily posture practice you can use to experience the benefits of yoga; with or without a

- A chance to meet like-minded people

- A strong foundation to begin your yoga journey

We teach a form of yoga that is practiced throughout the world. Our teachers have a wealth of experience and we will move at a pace that suits each individual. If you have any injuries or health issues, we can adapt your practice to suit.

This is a BEGINNER'S course so we do not expect you to be flexible/ strong/ calm already. Come as you are. Yoga is for everybody.

This course is taught over 3 consecutive Sundays at our facility in Hockley. In between these 3 Sundays, you will have the opportunity to attend classes on our regular timetable as part of the course.

Those that complete the course will also be offered a discounted membership to our shala.

You will need to provide your own mat for the course.
